FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • What is trail running?

Trail running is a sport practiced in nature, also known as mountain running or trail racing. It consists of running along mountain trails, through hills and ridges, crossing streams and rivers, with steep climbs and abrupt descents. The terrain and conditions are very demanding, which is why runners need to be well equipped. The weather, terrain, and distance are key factors in this sport.

  • What are trail or trail running sneakers like?

To practice this sport, you need special footwear — trail running sneakers — with superior features compared to standard running shoes, with special attention to the sole, which must be durable and resistant, with lugs that improve grip. These sneakers protect runners’ feet from sharp rocks, punctures, and impacts. The fabric of our sneakers is designed for all terrains, featuring water-repellent material that helps keep your feet dry.

Are they waterproof?

We offer trail running sneakers with waterproof technology. They feature water-repellent materials that prevent your feet from getting wet. Many runners cross rivers or run in the rain, so having sneakers with water-repellent materials helps keep feet dry and avoid the risk of running with heavier, waterlogged shoes during the race.

  • How do I choose the right size in trail running sneakers?

To make sure trail running is a good experience, you should choose the right size based on your activity and intensity level. The best way is to know your foot measurements. The simplest method is to place your feet — wearing the socks you would use for the activity — on a sheet of paper. Place your heel as close as possible to the edge (even better if against a wall), stand upright, and with the help of another person, mark the back of the heel and the tip of your longest toe. Once measured, you should leave about one centimeter of extra space in front of your toes in your trail running sneakers.

  • How do I care for trail running sneakers?

HTrail running often means your sneakers end up muddy or dusty. At ATOM, we recommend these steps to keep your sneakers clean and ready after your training: Right after your run, remove mud and dirt by rinsing them with water and knocking the soles together to get rid of as much dirt as possible. When you get home:

    - Untie the laces so you can rinse and dry them. Remove the insoles, rinse them, and let them dry.

    - Clean the sneakers with a soft-bristled brush, cloth, or sponge if there’s still dirt stuck on them.

    - Let them dry in a well-ventilated area, without using heaters or exposing them directly to sunlight.

    - Once completely dry, put the insoles and laces back in place. You’re ready for your next run!
